Restoration and conservation of paintings and painted objects

Zuhura Iddi restaurator van schilderijen

I, Zuhura Iddi (b. 1981), am an independent conservator and owner of Atelier IDDI. With a professional doctorate in cultural heritage conservation and restoration, I specialise in the restoration and conservation of paintings and painted objects.

Graduating as an art historian in 2009 from Utrecht University, I followed the Master's programme in Conservation & Restoration of Cultural Heritage. I completed the master's degree in 2012. During the post-initial part of the programme, I worked as a trainee conservator at Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg and at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. At the latter and the Rijksdienst voor Cultureel Erfgoed, I completed a research project. In 2014, I completed the training in its entirety. As a conservator, I am a member of Restaurateurs Netherlands, ICOM-CC and IIC and work according to the rules of conduct prescribed by E.C.C.O.

After training, I started working as an independent conservator, working for museums, individuals, companies and the art trade. In 2017, I worked as a conservator at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. In 2021, I made my contribution to the TV programme 'The Repair Shop' as an expert. I keep my knowledge up to date by attending conferences, collaborating with various agencies and trade-related professionals, and attending seminars where the latest material technical advances are shared.
