Restauratieschilder in historische binnenruimten
I have been working with paint for 35 years: first as an MTS student specialising in painting, then as an artist at the Art Academy, followed by a period as a freelance decorative painter in stage design, film and advertising, later in hospitality interiors, and for the last 20 years as a restoration painter, or specialist painter. All this knowledge and experience comes in handy, and I am still learning. I am resourceful and interested in the history of my trade. I am keen to pass on my knowledge to the next generation, so I work alongside ambitious trainees and young self-employed professionals. You cannot learn this profession in the classroom; practical experience is your school, and you learn the trade by working alongside others. My specialism is the restoration of decorative paintwork in historic interiors. I carry out specialist painting techniques such as: painted wood imitation, painted marble imitation, gold leaf gilding, patination, monumental painting using historic topcoats, wall paints, mineral paints, linseed oil paints, oil paints, acrylic paints, reversible paints and homemade paints.
