Magdalena Brela is a curator of paintings with ten years of experience. She holds a master's degree in conservation of paintings from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. She has worked in various museums and institutions in Austria, the Netherlands and Canada. She worked in the Netherlands for six years in a studio for the preservation of paintings and restored works ranging from Adriaen Coorte to Pablo Picasso to Alexander Calder. She worked for two years at the Saarland Museum in Saarbrücken, Germany, leading the painting restoration studio during a transition period from the chief restorer. The work included restoration treatments, courier tours, and planning and managing exhibition and loan-related restoration work. Magdalena combines knowledge of traditional restoration techniques with modern advances in conservation. She has experience in researching large collections, while prioritizing conservation and restoration treatments, making maintenance plans for collections and providing advice on the best preventative conservation methods.
